Not long ago, someone from the Houston Texas area asked me about beginning an auto-detailing business there. They didn't necessarily wish to have a location and a construction to work out of, rather they wanted to own an auto detailing business that was movable and came to the customer directly. Does this make sense for the Houston Area? Sure it does, in fact, our business has had great success in that market, and there is a lot of competition, but there is also a ton of business for all.
You see, Houston Tx is the third largest city in the Us with over 5.5 million residents, not including those non-citizens that no one has figured out how to count yet. So, I asked the personel inquiring; What city are you planning for your main territory? In other words, which suburb, remember Houston is a huge city with an anticipated whole of cities and communities surrounding it.
Auto Locations
Okay so, should your "main target area be all of Houston and its surrounding areas?" was the most new annotation from this hereafter movable auto-detailing entrepreneur. And here is my talk to this question:
It is a very good market there in Houston, and I expect a rebound of the cheaper there, and it will be strong. Houston typically has 10-year boom-and-bust cycles, well historically, and when it is booming, it is a powerhouse of money flow and business activity.
So, I wouldn't try to do the whole area due to traffic challenges and time to travel. For instance, you could combine on the Westheimer corridor, Clear Lake, Woodlands, Sugarland, etc. But trying to do the whole area will cost too much in labor while travel, too much fuel costs, and too much advertising costs to blanket the area. You'd need to have 10 units to do it right, so it's best to pick a quarter and combine on that boundary.
Thus, it makes sense to start small, and as the sublime title of a book recommends; quit Big.
Please reconsider all this.
